Paul Fairburn managed the station team at Smooth in London. He beat budget, and grew the weekly audience reach by 40% in the first 12 months. Paul restructured operations there. Smooth was one of a network of six stations owned by GMG Radio. On October 2nd 2010 the English ones became a national network.
Managing DAB Radio, DTV, Internet, Podcasting, Streaming and mobile platforms for Chrysalis Radio (then Global Radio)
Paul worked on several projects including: * a website relaunch * road traffic information research * advised a US internet services company on getting into the UK market
Paul ran 100.7 Heart fm, Galaxy 102.2, Galaxy 101 and Heart 106. Chrysalis Radio Midlands was in the Top 10 West Midlands Best Companies to Work For (2005). Paul Fairburn led the re-branding of Century East Midlands to Heart 106. He also built an excellent in-house telephone research facility. Paul drive significant increases in profitability and led the most profitable Chrysalis station over the period, achieving profit growth of over 75% in his first 4 years (significantly ahead of industry norms). 100.7 Heart fm's Breakfast Show won Sony Radio Academy Gold Award in Paul's time there.
Paul Fairburn managed brand building and audience growth - leading Heart to becoming the biggest UK station outside London. Paul used advanced audience research techniques, and was responsible for talent development and coaching.
